Saying goodbye to a Great Line Backer
Monday Afternoon I had turned on ESPN and I had heard some shocking news, the San Francisco 49ers Line Backer, Patrick Willis, at 30 years of age had announced retirement. I was surprised by his decision because Patrick Willis, in my personal opinion, has 3 to 4 Pro Bowl type season left in him, but because of his lingering injuries he has decided to call it a quit. Yahoo News reports that Patrick Willis has played 8 seasons, 1,225 tackels and 20.5 sacks, and 8 interceptions, 16 forced fumbles, 5 fumble recoveries, and 53 pass deflections all with the 49ers. He had 7 Pro Bowl Seasons and multiple All-pro Seasons which was the third longest All-Pro Seasons to start a career in 45 years. It's hard to say goodbye to great players and this one makes it even harder when a great player like Patrick Willis ends his career so early. So thank you Patrick Willis for all the great years.
