NFL Reaches Agreement with Players to Fund Social Justice Causes

On Thursday the NFL reached an agreement with the "Player Coalition" to donate 89 million dollars to multiple social justice organizations. This agreement was arranged because of the protests from NFL players during the 2017 season. But there was one player who has paid the price, Colin Kaepernick, the founder of this movement. With the fact that protesting may cost them their jobs the players have decided to do so anyway. Because as they have learned through Civil Rights Leaders that your fight may cost you everything but you will gain so much. Many players have come to the understanding that making millions of dollars is great but how we affect our communities is even better. Philadelphia Eagles Safety Michael Jenkins has been leading the "Player Coalition" from the start. I commend their efforts for playing football games on Sundays and going to New York on their off days.
The NFL has a problem
But there are still some issues with this deal. The owners, in my opinion, don't care about this issues of their players. Thus the backlash from many of the Owners to the players saying that they are disrespectful to the flag. Even President Trump has contacted Jerry Jones about not allowing the Dallas Cowboys to protest the anthem. So it is speculated that the only reason that there is an agreement in the first place is that the Owners want to silence the Players voices.
Malcolm Jenkins has even said that he will stop protesting because of this agreement so this speculation looks like the truth. 49ers Safety Eric Reid has pointed out how upset he is with this deal. He said, "Malcolm Jenkins and Anquan Boldin can no longer speak on our behalf as we don’t believe the coalition’s beliefs are in our best interests as a whole." So will this deal work out for everyone in the NFL? Only the future will tell.
