The CFP (College Football Playoff) is under way.
The College Football Playoff seeding has been put into place and now the teams and the fans must wait until December 31st to chase the 2nd Annual College Football Playoff Trophy.
The #1 Seeded 13-0 Clemson Tigers who is led by Hiesman trophy candidate Deshaun Watson. Clemson didn't start out as a top 10 team in College Football but they were on the radar for the teams who could possibly make the CFP Playoff and boy did they impress. First by beating #6 Notre Dame Fighting Irish, #16 Florida State Seminoles, and #10 North Carolina Tar Heels in the ACC Championship Game. Second Deshaun Watson has risen to stardom in College Football to point of becoming a Hiesman Candidate with completing 69% of his passes, passing for 3,512 yards, and scorig 41 total touchdowns. Third Clemson beat every opponent and thus going undefeated and now they wait for the play Oklahoma Sooners in the Capital One Orange Bowl.
The #2 Seeded 12-1 Alabama Crimson Tide led by Hiesman trophy candidate Derrick Henry. Alabama for the past 5 years has always started in the top 5 of the Coaches and AP Poll and they didn't surprise anyone with make the Playoff for the second straight year. But I have to admit that it looked bleak for the Crimson Tide with they suffered an early season loss to the OleMiss Rebels. But after that loss they regrouped and won 10 straight with another SEC Championship win. Derrick Henry has carried this Alabama team to a 12-1 record. He rushed the ball 329 times for 1,986 yards and 23 touchdowns. They have a serious task ahead of them with facing Michigan State in the Cotton Bowl but I believed they have a perfect game plan and will be coached up by Nick Saban as always.
The #3 Seeded 11-1 Oklahoma Sooners led by Baker Mayfield and Samaje Perine. Oklahoma is a bit of a suprise team this year because normally the Soonerswill fall apart at end of the season but this is a different Sooner team. They are top 5 in Scoring this year behind Baker Mayfields 68.6% pass completion with 3,389 yards and 35 passing touchdowns. Samaje Perine has rushed the ball 211 times for 1,291 yards and 15 touchdowns. With Oklahomas high powered Offense they will prove to be a valid threat to the Clemson Tigers and any team in the Playoff.
The #4 Seeded 12-1 Michigan State Spartans led by Connor Cook. The Spartans have had a Cinderella Season with beating Michigan at the buzzer in Ann Arbor with a dropped punt that turned into a late Touchdown. Then they beat the defending Champions Ohio State Buckeyes with a late FG in a Defensive struggle of a game. In the Big 10 Championship Game they beat the #4 12-0 Iowa Hawkeyes with a late game Touchdown. The Spartans know how to grind out games and show determination through adversity and win by any means. I won't lie they are going into the Cotton Bowl as serious underdogs but they shouldn't be underestimated by Alabama. But as many teams in the Big 10 have learned this year the Spartans will never give up.
