We stand behind you, Jemele Hill
On September 11th ESPN Analyst Jemele Hill made serious waves on Twitter with her comments on our current President Donald Trump. Jemele has not been a fan of our President just like many Americans. While on Twitter she began to have conversations with other Twitter users and this is where the story begins.
She has received much backlash from her comments which was expected and this is what I greatly respect about Jemele. With everything going on with Colin Kaepernick and kneeling for the lack of equality in America it's safe to say that whenever people of color make a statement they will be opposed with hatred and racism in 2017. As more backlash began to flood Jemele's timeline there were some Twitter users who called her the "N" word in their response and one person said that "They would love to watch here hang from a tree." While Jemele was catching flack on Social Media here's what the White House Press Secretary had to say about Jemele Hill's comments.
I honestly believe that Jemele shouldn't be fired for her comments but unfortunately I think this is what may be the end result. ESPN has already commented via Twitter saying that "The comments on Twitter from Jemele Hill do not represent the position of ESPN. We have addressed this with Jemele and she recognizes that her actions were inappropriate." As a last line of hope for Jemele I thought would be ESPN but unfortunately it sounds like they're going to make a tough business decision. I really hope she keeps her job but if not I'm sure she will find another great opportunity because she is a great Sports Analyst and a great person as well.
